Can this bike be purchased on a Cycle to Work scheme?
Yes, all e-bikes can be purchased through all the major Cycle to Work scheme providers. The government has even abolished the £1000 limit, making obtaining an e-bike through Cycle to Work more beneficial than ever.
Is it possible to test ride the bike?
You can test-ride any of our e-bikes and receive expert buying advice at our flagship Clitheroe showroom. Please contact the showroom in advance so that we can ensure that any suitable bikes you wish to test are available for your visit. During the summer months, we also host demo events across the UK. For details of the dates and timings of these events, please refer to our events page.
Alternatively, you can hire the e-bike from E-Venture Bikes in Keswick; the rental cost will then be deducted from your purchase should you decide to buy one of our e-bikes.
How much does the Endurance SL e weigh?
Builds start from as low as 10.5kg making the Endurance SL e one of the lightest of its type worldwide. Our recommended builds weigh between 10.5 to 12kg depending on your chosen specification.
What electronic drive system does the SL e use?
The SL e has been built around the MAHLE SmartBike Systems X35+ electric drive motor system.
Can I alter the assistance levels of the motor system?
Yes, you can cycle through three different assistance modes (which can be configured further in the app) or choose to have the motor turned off completely, all at the press of a single button.
How does the motor work?
The SL e’s motor system is 'pedal-assist', which means that the motor supports you when you pedal the bike.
How fast can I go on the SL e?
The SL e’s motor system will power you until you reach 15mph, at which point (by law, and as with all e-bikes in the UK) the assistance will cut out. If you drop below 15mph, the motor will automatically re-engage and provides as required.
What is the range of the SL e?
The battery range of the Endurance SL e depends on a number of factors, including rider weight, route profile and temperature. A rider of 90kg on a varied route including climbs, descents and flats using the low power setting can expect an average
range of up to 60 miles. An optional range extender is also available for all of our e-bikes, which effectively doubles the bike's available range.
Can I go faster than 15mph?
Yes, and with builds from only 11kgs, you often find yourself above this speed. The motor will only assist you up to 15mph, and you will be relying entirely upon your own leg power for speeds above this.
What if I get a puncture in the rear wheel?
It is simple to disconnect the rear wheel from the frame by unclipping the connector on the chainstay and releasing the nuts on the rear axle. Then reconnect by clipping the cable back in, inserting the wheel and tightening the nuts.
What is the warranty on the electric bikes?
The frame has a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects. All other parts are covered by the manufacturer's standard warranty. The MAHLE system is covered against manufacturing defects for a period of 2-years.
Can I fit mudguards?
Yes, the frame is compatible with full mudguards thanks to its integrated mudguard mounts.
What is the maximum tyre width that the frame can accommodate?
The Endurance SL e's frame design includes ample room for tyre widths up to 32c without mudguards, though this depends upon the model/brand of tyre fitted. With mudguards fitted, the bike will accept 25c tyres.
What type of riding is this bike best suited for?
The Endurance geometry of this frame is best suited to comfort and efficiency over longer distances on road, as well as an aid to climbing. If you're going to be riding off-road often, we would suggest the CGR AL e which uses the same MAHLE system.
How many bottle cage mounts are there?
Each frame size has two bottle cage mounts.
Does the frame have fittings to allow a rack to be mounted?

Is it Di2 compatible?
Thanks to its internal cable routing, the frame is fully compatible with electronic groupsets.
How long does it take to charge the battery?
From fully depleted, the battery takes 3.5 hours to reach full charge.
Do I need to remove the battery to charge?
No, the charging port is accessible easily on the outside of the frame.
How will I know how much battery I have left?
The button mounted on the top tube indicates the remaining battery life at a glance using a simple colour code. White= 75% capacity or more remaining, Green= 50-75%, Orange= 25-50%, Red= 15-25%, Slow Red Flash= 10-15% and Rapid Red Flash= 10% or
less remaining. You can also keep track of the remaining battery life using the MAHLE SmartBike Systems companion app.
Is there an app to use with the system?
Yes, the motor system’s companion app is compatible with both Apple and Android OS and offers a full suite of functionality, from monitoring your exact battery life to pairing the system with a heart rate monitor and having the motor kick in at
a specific BPM limit.
How does the SL e’s weight compare to other E-Road bikes?
The SL e is one of the lightest e-Bikes currently available. As reference points, the Pinarello Nytro is 13kgs; and the Orbea Gain is 11.3kgs.
Is the battery and /or motor replaceable?
The battery is accessible by removing the bottom bracket. The motor is also easy to replace.
Are the brakes flat mount or post mount?
The brakes are the most current flat mount variant.
What plug sockets are supplied for international orders?
Our SL e-bike is supplied with a 3-pin UK adaptor.
How do you charge the battery?
You charge the system via the charging port that is easily accessible atop the bottom bracket shell.
What is the life expectancy of the battery?
The battery can reach up to 500 charging cycles while still retaining up to 90% of its capacity as long as its care and maintenance are adequate. Please refer to our battery care blog for our top tips and recommendations to maximise battery life. Use only the original MAHLE charger supplied with your bike.
What BB does it take?
The Endurance SL e takes a press-fit style of BB, Shimano builds require an 86.5x41 BB and SRAM a BB86.
Where does the additional battery mount/plugin?
The additional battery is essentially an oversize water bottle shape and is supplied with its own bottle cage. This replaces the seat tube mounted bottle cage; the charger then plugs into the charging port atop the
bottom bracket shell.
Is the bike supplied with pedals?
Due to the many different systems people use we do not supply pedals with our bikes but you can find a great array of pedals here.
