DETAILS IN R&D
TESTING, ANALYSIS & REFINEMENT

Fine-tuned through a rigorous testing process, this time trial superbike has been developed by our R&D team using the world class aerodynamic expert and UK time trial champion Dan Bigham as our test pilot.

Hours in the velodrome, real world testing and extensive CFD analysis repeatedly identified further aero gains throughout the R&D and prototyping process.

DRAG SAVE FINAL ANALYSIS

The final CFD and real world testing showed a total bike and rider drag saving of up to 2.2% and an average of 1.3% across a -15 to +15 degree YAW sweep versus initial prototype and benchmark.

TIME SAVINGS

Drag saving equates to up to 23 seconds based on our test rider racing a flat 25-mile (40.2km) at 29mph (46.6kph).

RACE WINNING AND
RECORD BREAKING

Our guiding aim whilst developing the new Ultra Tri was to provide a world class TT and Tri platform for Dan Bigham, John Archibald and the Ribble Pro Cycling and to then make this platform open to all - a bike faster than any other TT bike they had raced before and the results of the analysis show that we’ve succeeded.

The Ultra Tri is an uncompromising, speed centric platform designed to allow you to reach your full potential. The new Ultra TT is an innovative tech loaded speed machine.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Are the Ultra TT and Tri suitable for non-elite racing?

Although the frames are race specific and have been designed with high end performance in mind because they allow a wide range of adjustability they are perfect for all time trial distances and non-drafting standard, middle and long-distance triathlon. In order to achieve a low, aero position, those not used to racing in this position may experience strain on the lower back and neck initially, but a less aggressive fit is also achievable. The Ultra TT will ensure that all riders maximise their performances, there will be no excuses!

What are the key differences between the TT frame and Tri frame?

The two frames are almost identical and both benefit from the same aerodynamic optimising development and testing process. The Ultra TT comes complete with two aerofoils fitted over the front brake whilst the Ultra Tri has a drink box mounted in that position. The Tri specific model has been designed to include three aerodynamic secure (but detachable) feed/storage units so you can focus completely on your own performance. The rear box can also be used as an emergency tool storage unit if you experience a mechanical and fits to both models.

What are the capacity of the feed boxes?

Front hydration system: 500ml (400ml Extra Small frame). Top Tube box: 150ml. Rear box: 500ml.

What does the frame weigh?

1.2kg.

What is the widest tyre that can be fitted?

The rear facing horizontal drop outs allow space for tyres up to 25mm width.

Is the frame compatible with other brands of stem and bar extensions?

Yes, any 1 1/8" handlebar stem will be compatible and therefore makes other brands of base bar and aero extensions more readily compatible.

Would a bike fit be required?

If you’re serious about racing then a final position fit is advisable once you’ve identified the frame size for you. Getting fitted may be beneficial to prevent injury and ensure the bike works with you, helping you to generate as much power as possible when pushing for those extra time gains. Ribble are on hand to advise on the correct size of frame, or if you prefer, you can visit one of our showrooms to size up against the bike.

Does the bike come with pedals?

No, pedals are a personal choice. We offer a wide range here.

What is the warranty of the frame and what does it cover?

The frame has a three-year warranty against manufacturing defects. All other parts have the manufacturer’s standard warranty.

Is the bike built with stem stackers?

Builds that have the Zipp SC SL stem will have 30mm stem stackers. Builds that have the USE stem won’t have stem stackers as they have adjustable elbow rest heights.

How much height adjustment is there with the USE Tri-bar set?

The USE Tri-bar set comes with 4x10mm and 2x20mm stackers. This gives multiple stack height options up to a maximum stack of 40mm under each arm-pad. The arm pads are also laterally adjustable.

What sort of BB does this frame have?

The frames requires a press fit BB30 68x46. We fit our own Ribble cups when fitting Shimano chainsets.

Can I have a 39/53 chainset?

If the build you are looking for is not available, get in touch and our experts can take a look at your exact requirements.

Will a 4iiii Powermeter fit?

No, due to the rear brake being mounted behind the BB shell a 4iii crank arm will contact the brake.

Love the new bike, unfortunately let down by the poor after care from customer service.
My new ribble ultra tri came with no assembly instructions, no guidance at all from the manufacture on assembly or maintenance. After contacting them and getting no where from ribble sending me half written assembly instructions I resorted googling and finding you tube videos. I didn’t even know how to charge the DI2 groupset, or even know where the battery and main junction box was located.
I feel it is assumed that only professional cyclists purchase these bikes and the average Joe isn’t catered for at all. After spending just under 4K on a bike, I feel let down by this - you would expect a manual to come with any vehicle purchased for that price!

The bike itself, now I’ve assembled it is awesome.

The bike is very quick and nimble and in the main I like it. However the bike isn't supplied with instructions so it's trial and error attaching the handlebars, aero bars and hydration system on the bike.(I'm a competent bike mechanic)
The hydration bottle on the front isn't great either. In normal riding the fluid ends up all over the bars and your legs due to the filling slit leaking due to the fluids slopping around inside. Some of the hex bolts supplied with the frame are poor quality and easily rounded, even when using good quality tools and trying NOT to over tighten, but as no torque settings are supplied on the frame or bike part it's very difficult to know how far something should be tighted. A friend, who had purchased the same bike was advised that the handlebars(stem hex bolts) should be tightened to 5NM...I tried this and the bars slipped everytime I rode it.I have also discovered there are also two different designs of handle bars and this affects how the aero bars are attached and their security. When tightening the hex bolts holding the arero bars and spacers it's easy to overtighten and break the plasitic hanger for the front hydratrion system/aero brake cover but this depends on which handlebar design you have.
