To improve on PRs on strava something had to change. Try harder / Stop eating cake ! / lose weight / stop riding bikes from 1998.
This year decided to use C2W scheme to buy a Ribble - got cracking reviews on R872 in cycling magazines a few years ago which I remembered.
So chose the Grand Tour edition with the garishly awful colours but it had Ultegra !! Happily managed to get a black machine instead.
Communication e mails with Ribble were good - told me it was getting built / time frames to expect. It arrived by Royal Mail very quickly. Well packed and easily built up.
All working lovely
Very lightweight machine compared to my old 1998 Giant . I had my doubts about PR improvements - how wrong was I.
Took a bit of time to tame this beast and get used to the lightness. Suddenly hills weren’t such a hardship. Didn’t feel I was going quicker but I was !!!.
Seemed to have so much more energy to spare during a ride.
One point to remember is after 150 miles over lumpy Scottish roads is to check the skewers. On one sharp wee climb the back wheel popped out and my first tumble.
Oh no my new Ribble !! It’s new !!! Happily no damage and more importantly no tears or snot - my new bike !!! A quick polish and tightening of skewers and on my way.
That wee sharp climb was not a PR!!.
I’ve had my new bike for 8 days now and with 6 rides I’ve done over 230 miles and numerous PRs on strava.
My new Ribble is BRAW!!!
Can I learn to love my old Giant again ?
And I can still eat cake !!!
