My Ribble Endurance SLe arrived as scheduled all be it a little later than expected due to a delay in Ribble’s receipt of my selected wheels. When I opened the box, wow, I was well pleased, with the quality of the build and could not wait to try it out. As I am now 74 years of age, and an ex raceIng cyclist, I wanted something to give me a lift. My existing Ribble Grand Fondo Is still great but I suffer a bit on hills. My new Endurance SLe is stylish and comfortable and on my first ride I hardly used the motor except when the hills arrived which I climbed with ease. I am well pleased and hope I can enjoy many more challenging rides.
WELL DONE RIBBLE

Really pleased with my bike, I get a lot of 'It can't be electric' comments as it looks just like a road bike but with a small push of the power button it shows what it can do. I live an an area of short steep hills and ride them regularly with a friend who just devours them, I usually find him chatting to someone at the top waiting for me - he tried to stay with me on my new bike and even on the lowest level he struggled, I have never seen him work so hard! It has opened up a load of new routes that I would probably not have tried before and best of all by turning the assist off it acts like a regular road bike so I can still get my work-out, and probably push a bit harder knowing that if I blow up I have an assisted ride home. Very happy customer :-)

Frequently Asked
Questions
Do I need to pedal to ride this ebike?

Yes, our e-bikes are pedal-assisted models which require rider input at all times.

I’m worried that I won’t have full control over the bike?

There’s no need to worry, being a pedal-assisted model means you are in full control at all times. When a power assist level is selected the motor simply provides a little extra boost whilst you pedal and does not take over.

Do I need tax, insurance or a licence to ride the ebikes?

No, pedal-assisted electric bikes do not require you to hold a valid driver’s licence, pay tax or take out insurance.

How do I charge the battery?

To charge the battery you simply plug the bike into a household socket using the supplied charger and cable. (The optional range extender can also charge the main battery whilst you are on the move).

Can I ride this in the wet?

The electric components used on our e-bikes are IP54 rated. They can be used in inclement weather conditions and are protected against splashing, but not against full immersion or when subjected to pressurised water from a hose pipe or jet wash. When transporting the bike on the outside of a vehicle a waterproof cover should be utilised to ensure the protection of the electronic components from water damage during such transportation. As with any bike, we would recommend thoroughly cleaning and drying the bike after any wet weather rides to maintain the peak performance of your bike.

Can this bike be purchased on a Cycle to Work scheme?

Yes, all ebikes can be purchased through all the major Cycle to Work scheme providers. The government have even abolished the £1000 limit making obtaining an ebike through Cycle to Work more beneficial than ever.

Is it possible to test ride the bike?

Test rides of the e-bike are available from Ribble HQ in Preston. We would advise that you contact us ahead of making your journey to ensure that there is availability for your test ride. Alternatively, you can hire the e-bike from E-Venture Bikes in Keswick, the rental cost will then be deducted from your purchase should you decide to buy one of our e-bikes. We also host various demo days around the UK and the details can be viewed via our social channels or events section of the website.

How much does the Endurance SL e weigh?

Builds start at 11kgs, the Sport build with Shimano Tiagra weighs in at 12.4kgs and the Enthusiast build with Shimano 105, 11.95kgs.

What electronic drive system does the SLe use?

The SLe has been built around the Ebikemotion X35 system.

Can I alter the assistance levels of the motor system?

Yes, you can cycle through 3 different assistance modes (which can be configured further in the app), or choose to have the motor turned off completely; all at the press of a single button.

How does the motor work?

The SL e’s motor system is 'pedal-assist', which means that the motor supports you when you pedal the bike.

How fast can I go on the SL e?

The SL e’s motor system will power you until you reach 15mph, at which point (by law, and as with all e bikes in the UK) the assistance will cut out. If you drop below 15mph the system will automatically kick back in with assistance if required.

What is the range of the SL e?

The battery range of the Endurance SL e depends on a number of factors including rider weight, route profile and temperature. A rider of 90kg, on a varied route including climbs, descents and flats using the low power setting can expect an average range of up to 60 miles. An optional range extender is also available for all of our e-bikes, which effectively doubles the bikes available range.

Can I go faster than 15mph?

Yes, and with builds from only 11kgs you may find yourself above this speed a lot of the time. The motor will only assist you up to 15mph, and for speeds above this you will be relying on your legs.

What if I get a puncture in the rear wheel?

It is simple to disconnect the rear wheel from the frame by unclipping the connector on the chainstay and releasing the nuts on the rear axle. Then reconnect by clipping the cable back in, insert the wheel and tighten the nuts.

What is the warranty on the electric bikes?

The frame has a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects. All other parts are covered by the manufacturer's standard warranty. The Ebikemotion system is covered against manufacturing defects for a period of 2-years.

Can I fit mudguards?

Yes the frame is compatible with full mudguards thanks to its integrated mudguard mounts.

What is the maximum tyre width that the frame can accommodate?

The Endurance SL e is suitable for tyre widths up to 32c without mudguards, though this is dependant upon the model / brand of tyre fitted. With mudguards fitted the bike will accept 25c tyres.

What type of riding is this bike best suited for?

The Endurance geometry of this frame is best suited to comfort and efficiency over longer distances on road, as well as an aid to climbing. If you're going to be riding off-road often, we would suggest the CGR AL e which has the same Ebikemotion system.

How many bottle cage mounts are there?

Each frame size has mountings for 2 bottles.

Does the frame have fittings to allow a rack to be mounted?

No, the frame does not have rack mounts incorporated. For an e-bike with rack mounts, see the Hybrid AL e.

Is it Di2 compatible?

Yes, thanks to its fully internal cable routing the frame is fully compatible with electronic groupsets.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

From fully depleted the battery takes 3.5 hours to reach full charge.

Do I need to remove the battery to charge?

No, the charging port is accessible easily on the outside of the frame.

How will I know how much battery I have left?

The button mounted on the top-tube indicates the remaining battery life at a glance using a simple colour-code. White= 75% capacity or more remaining, Green= 50-75%, Orange= 25-50%, Red= 15-25%, Slow Red Flash= 10-15% and Rapid Red Flash= 10% or less remaining. You can also keep track of the remaining battery life using the Ebikemotion companion app.

Is there an app to use with the system?

Yes, the motor system’s companion app is compatible with both Apple and Android OS’s and offers a full suite of functionality; from monitoring your exact battery life, to pairing the system with a heart rate monitor and having the motor kick in at a specific BPM limit.

How does the SL e’s weight compare to other E-Road bikes?

The SL e is one of the lightest e-Bikes currently available. As reference points, the Pinarello Nytro is 13kgs; and the Orbea Gain is 11.3kgs.

Is the battery and /or motor replaceable?

Yes, the battery is accessible by removing the bottom bracket. The motor is also easy to replace.

Are the brakes flat mount or post mount?

The brakes are the most current flat mount variant.

What plug sockets are supplied for international orders?

Our SL e bike is supplied with a 3-pin UK adaptor.

Will the battery be chargeable in the USA as a different voltage is required? (also applied to other countries)

Yes, bikes shipped to the US are equipped with a drive system that offers a higher maximum speed and includes a US power cable. Though charge times may vary to those stated for the UK.

How do you charge the battery?

You charge the system via the charging port that is easily accessible on the top of the bottom bracket shell.

What is the life expectancy of the battery?

The battery can reach up to 500 charging cycles while still retaining up to 90% of its capacity as long as its care and maintenance are adequate. For maximum efficiency, it is important to maintain a battery charge of between 20-80% of its total capacity. Charging the battery to 100% capacity from fully depleted is one complete charging cycle. Similarly, topping up the battery from 80-100% capacity five times amounts to one complete charging cycle. If you are not going to be using your bike for a period of time you should always ensure that it is stored in a dry environment (out of direct sunlight) with a charge level of between 40-50%. Every 2 months the bike should be charged fully. Take care not to leave the charger connected to the bike continuously, doing so could accelerate the degradation of battery life. Ideally the charger should not be connected for more than 5 hours at a time. Use only the original ebikemotion charger supplied with your bike.

What BB does it take?

The Endurance SL e takes a press-fit style of BB, Shimano builds require a 86.5x41 BB and Sram a BB86.

Where does the additional battery mount/plug in?

The additional battery comes in the form of a bottle and is supplied with it's own bottle cage. This replaces the seat tube mounted bottle cage (this cannot be mounted on the down tube), the charger then plugs into the charging port on top of the bottom bracket shell.

Is the bike supplied with pedals?

Due to the many different systems people use we do not supply pedals with bikes but you can find a great array of pedals here.
