I've ridden a Ribble Sportive Racing bike for nearly 10 years and I have been really pleased with it. When it came to replacing it, I did lots of research & talked to all my riding mates about the brands that they rode. I always came back to Ribble however mainly because of value for money and the ability to customise a bike to my requirements. I settled on the Endurance SL Disc and I haven't been disappointed. The upgrade to Mavic Ksyrium wheels was a good move and converting them to tubeless was a joy. Why do Ribble supply them with tubes? This bike is a step change up from my old bike. It's really capable and deceptively fast - lots of PBs on Strava! It also handles really well and is comfortable (for a road bike) probably due to the 28 mm tyres. The only issue I had on my first ride out was that the saddle would tip backwards over bumps. This was soon rectified when I got home and it hasn't been a problem since. It's a great looking bike and I'm looking forward to spending many happy hours in the saddle.
I found the Ribble purchase experience very good and my Endurance SL Disc was ready to collect earlier than the estimated date.
The bike looks really good, I like the square profile of the tubes and the geometry is great. It certainly feels like a premium bit of kit.
I’ve only ridden the SL once so far, the maiden voyage was one of mixed emotion.
Firstly the positives: Rides well, accelerates swiftly, climbs way better than my previous bike, the icetech brakes are sweet, comfortable riding position. On one of my regular routes I achieved 31 PRs on Strava!
The ONLY negative is that unfortunately the gears have not been setup properly by the Ribble Engineers. The front derailleur grinds on the chain and the down-shifting on the rear plagued by clicking/clunking/half gears, it sounds like a bag of spanners. To rectify during the first ride I had to shift down then “half shift” back up to stop the noise. I’m sure the issues can be rectified with some (hopefully) simple tweaks however, I expected better and its a shame the issue took the shine off my first ride experience.
