I order my Endurance AL and within a couple of weeks my new shiny bike arrived (Oct 19) - chose off the back of online reviews. Lets's get the -ves over and done with first .... I had added mudguards as I am doing a 25 mile wound trip commute but unfortunately the rear was broken in transit but the helpful customer service rep sent a next day replacement. It was a faff to fit as the workshop had custom drilled the mudguard to fit, which meant I had to. The front also did not come with quick release fitting. Also have an issue moving between chain rings, so will need to adjust. The last one is probably something Ribble could adjust prior to shipping. I have the 105 component version, hydraulic brakes, and the shifters extend the reach. In order to compensate I will have to get a shorter stem, otherwise I need to adopt a superman position. The reviews had highlighted this so was not a surprise ( could have probably tailored it as part of the build but forgot).
The +ves - in the few weeks I have had the bike, and few hundred miles I have done, the overall ride is great. Has handled well in biblical rain conditions and had climbed well on my up and down commute. Braking is good (as hoped from a disc with hydraulic), and the overall build quality seems great. With a few adjustments from the -ves I hope this will be a super commute bike. Time will tell.
Having started cycling only 1 year I decided to invest in a decent road bike. After research and recommendations I decided on a Ribble Endurance AL Disc 105 and could not be happier with my choice, sorry I am not experienced enough to go into technical details but I can say it is great to ride, handles really well in winter with the continental gp 4 seasons on the apparently forgiving Mavic Aksiums and disc breaks very reassuring in winter too. I am already seeing improvements in my accents, speed and distance, I just cannot wait to clock up many more miles on this bike. With the added advantage of great and friendly assistance and advice from all the staff at the Preston store.
The Endurance SL R Series is our flagship carbon endurance bike, this high-performance frameset is superlight (frame sub 900g) and the truncated aerofoil profile of the tubes makes it the lightest and one of the fastest packages that we offer.
