James
the Al Cx is the first bike I’ve had from Ribble and the first cycle cross bike I’ve owned. Having only ridden road it definitely came as a nice surprise when you actually get off the same routes and head off on some trails and muddy tracks!

The first ride, the bike handles well and rolls on the road just like a normal road bike would. However the larger tyres make it far more comfortable and gives it a softer ride.

When I reached off road I did a mix of gravel, grass and wood/ mud tracks. For someone who was a bit unsure on the bike would feel off road, it felt stable and easy to handle. What was most surprising is taking the bike through thick wet mud (there’s plenty of thanks to wet winter!) having the low range gear makes it far easier to keep going, and when you reach the point where the mud gets too much, it’s light enough to chuck on your shoulder and keep moving.

The photos show the bikes after it’s first ride!

Having never used Ribble before or ridden one of their bikes I must say the customer service has been fantastic. The team were happy to answer my questions prior to ordering and they then kept me up to date throughout the build. Furthermore, Ribble Bluewater were friendly and helpful. They talked me through the bike and were very knowledgeable.
