LIGHTWEIGHT MULTI-TERRAIN
VERSATILITY

If saving weight is a key requirement then the Shimano Ultegra groupset offers a super slick shifting, lightweight package. The Ultegra groupset is essentially a race ready groupset so is both lightweight and offers exceptionally slick shifting performance akin to the more expensive Dura Ace. We have chosen the Mavic Aksium wheelset to compliment the groupset due to their performance and durability.

Only done about 100 miles so far but that’s been enough for me to get everything set up and really start enjoying this beast, rides lovely, comfortable, fast, feels ridiculously light, still baffles me every time I pick it up, and it’s gorgeous! Very pleased for a first time gravel purchase.

I bought the Ribble CGR SL Ultergra in September 2019 as a replacement for a Winter bike that was too big, plus I wanted to move from a Road specific bike to one that could tackle the trails as well as Road which is primarily where I ride.

With carbon bars & stem in a size small the delivered weight was 9.05KG.

Other manufactures Gravel bikes in my opinion looked a bit drab at the time. The CGR SL is a lovely looking bike and doesn't disappoint, it appears to be finished extremely well and is a comfortable ride.

The stock Mavic Askiums are a bombproof wheelset, but heavy. The bike could be improved by upgrading the wheels, but this is my Winter bike afterall. I do notice the increased rolling resistance with the 40mm G-One Tyres (which are also heavy), but again this is the bikes forte on the trails.
With new carbon road wheels and tyres I suspect you could reduce the weight anywhere upto 1kG.

Based on this bike I would definitely buy another Ribble, in fact 2 friends have recently bought a Ribble based on my experience.
