    WHAT IS A TITANIUM BIKE?

Titanium is sometimes referred to as the ‘dream material’. It was once deemed to be an exotic material and the price tag certainly reflected this. Today the price of Titanium bikes is more reasonable though you can still expect to pay more than a comparable steel or aluminium frame. What sets Titanium apart from all the other frame materials used to construct frames is its strength and durability. Titanium is most similar to steel in its ride quality and like a steel frame it is amazingly compliant. This translates into a much more comfortable ride experience with less vibration transmitted through the frame. There are however 2 significant advantages over steel, weight and strength. It is easily the strongest material used in frame construction today and also due to the composition of the materials works out lighter than a steel frame. Due to the difficulty involved in the manufacturing of Titanium bikes the price tag is higher to reflect the complicated construction process. For instance, when the tubes are welded it must be in an oxygen-free environment. Though a well-made Titanium bike can be amongst the most expensive of bikes to buy they should be thought of as a long-term investment thanks to their extensive lifespan and durability
