WEEE

The UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations (2006 as amended) implement the main the provisions of the European WEEE Directive. The broad aim is to address the environmental impacts of unwanted electrical and electronic equipment at end of life disposal.

The crossed out wheeled bin symbol shown here means that you should not dispose of an electrical or electronic item in the normal household waste system. You can take it to your local Recycling Centre - For more information on your local recycling facilities visit www.recyclenow.com.

The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like us must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge on a one-for-one purchase basis if they wish.

This means that when you purchase a new equivalent item from us we will take back the original item free of charge and dispose of it safely. In this case you must return the original item to us within 28 days of the purchase of the new item. You are responsible for the cost of shipping.

Please send your old items to:

Ribble Cycles (WEEE)
363 Leach Place
Walton Summit Centre
Bamber Bridge
Preston
PR5 8AS

The amount of WEEE we all throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

Much of the UK's WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.

Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

We all have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.
